Convent
of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic, independent
college preparatory School for young women from
Preschool through Grade 12.
Part of a Network
of more than 200 Sacred Heart Schools in 44 countries,
the 21 Sacred Heart Schools in the United States
share a common set of Goals
& Criteria that bind us together, both
philosophically and spiritually, in a common educational
mission. The Sacred Heart Goals & Criteria
provide an enduring framework within which we
are free to develop curricula and programming
appropriate to the needs of our student body.
With a beautiful view of Long Island Sound from
Convent of the Sacred Heart’s 110-acre campus
in Greenwich, Connecticut, more than 748 students
carry on the Sacred Heart tradition of academic
excellence and development of the mind, body and
spirit.
Our modern campus has classrooms wired with the
latest audiovisual and electronic technology.
The state-of-the-art science wing provides students
with the latest laboratory equipment and study
materials available.
Sacred Heart’s Media Center has an extensive
collection of printed books and periodicals and
access to numerous online databases for enhanced
research capabilities. In addition, the Cora E.
McLaughlin Art Gallery attracts local and nationally
acclaimed artists and also showcases student and
teacher talent.
Our athletics
teams compete in leagues in Westchester County,
Fairfield County and throughout New England. Students
utilize our playing fields for lacrosse, soccer,
field hockey and softball as well as our three-mile
cross country course, six tennis courts, 25-yard
indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and weight room,
dance studio and playgrounds.
For our aspiring photographers, artists, actresses
and singers, we have a photography studio, several
large art studios, a clay kiln, and a state-of-the-art
auditorium for plays, musicals and choral performances.
The strength of a Sacred Heart education is firmly
grounded in the development of a strong and lively
faith in God. From their earliest years, the girls
are provided with experiences that create a strong
foundation for the development of their personal
relationship with God. A rigorous religious education
and theology program is required for all students.
Approximately 70% of the student body is Roman
Catholic and the School cherishes the religious
belief of each girl by actively responding to
the clarion call to ecumenism as directed by the
Second Vatican Council.
