Convent of the Sacred Heart is situated
on a beautiful 110-acre campus in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Haven. Overlooking the Long Island Sound, the
campus consists of modern classrooms, a state-of-the-art
observatory, auditorium, playgrounds, playing
fields, an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and

Internet access for faculty and students.
The Eileen Dealy Gillespie ’49 Science Center
The 29,000-square-foot science center, dedicated
in 1998, has state-of-the-art science laboratories
for all three divisions. Special independent study
space is allocated for Upper School students working
on projects in the Science
Research Program. In addition, it houses several
other academic departments, including math and
art. Spaces devoted to the arts include multi-purpose
classrooms, a ceramics room with potting wheels
and a kiln, a darkroom to support the Art Department’s
photography program and a drama and music room.
The Mary Aloysia Hardey Observatory: A Close-up
View of the Heavens
Located just beyond our playing fields, Sacred
Heart’s 900-foot Mary Aloysia Hardey Observatory features a
fully computerized, professional grade telescope.
Capable of 800x magnification, this 16”
telescope provides students with one of the best
views of the night sky in southern New England.
Within the observatory is a classroom with Internet
and computer hook-ups.
Additionally, ten 8” telescopes are available
for use at the observatory’s outdoor pad.
A staff astronomer works closely with teachers
to integrate astronomy into the curriculum of
each division.
