| College Counseling
At Convent of the Sacred Heart each
student’s college placement is handled individually.
The Director of College Guidance provide a program
of services to students and parents that begins
in the sophomore year and culminates in the spring
of the senior year. The program consists of weekly
classes for juniors and seniors, and individual
student conferences and parent meetings to outline
goals and discuss expectations. The Director also
arranges a tour of a local college for sophomores
and juniors so that students know what to expect
during future campus tours and information sessions.
Finally, at the beginning of senior year, the
Director emphasizes the importance of staying
focused on the final stages of the application
process: writing college essays, applying for
financial aid and meeting deadlines.
A handbook, published exclusively for Convent of the Sacred Heart students and their parents, features practical advice on how to approach the college process and what students will need to do to prepare for their senior year.
In addition
to participating in college fairs and on-campus
visits with college representatives, students
at Convent of the Sacred Heart also have access
to a variety of college search resources throughout
the year, including guidebooks and related computer
software programs.
