A visit to the retired RSCJs at Teresian House
11/8/2011
On Monday, November 7, a group that included Kathleen Dolan '56, RSCJ, Grace Campbell, Grace Smith, Mrs. Michelle Smith, Paige Wilkens, Marian Ziminsky and Mrs. Lori Wilson travelled from CSH to Albany to spend time visiting our retired RSCJ.
The group gathered at Convent of the Sacred Heart before departing at 8:30 a.m. They arrived at Teresian House in Albany, New York at 11 a.m. "We greeted the RSCJs in the "Book Nook," a special gathering place for RSCJs at Teresian House," Mrs. Wilson said.
November is noted for being the month of St. Rose Philippine Duchesne’s feast day so they shared a prayer service in honor of St. Philippine. Our students shared symbols that told something of Philippine’s life and the RSCJs shared their insights on this woman of courage, perseverance and prayer. They enjoyed lunch together in the Capital Lounge and spent time exchanging stories about their lives.
A highlight of the trip was visiting with Irene Cotter, RSCJ, who worked at our school for many years. She was happy to see everyone.
The group headed for home at 2:30 p.m. Reflecting in the car on the way back, our students realized that young and old alike share a common mission and have much in common. This trip was a perfect blend of Goals 1 and 3.
