Barat Foundation
Project S.W.E.E.P.
Project S.W.E.E.P., an organization that teaches disadvantaged students from East Palo Alto to use ergometers in an effort to improve their health and fitness, is partnering with the East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring Program to provide a healthy eating course for these students and their families.

Fordham Prep’s Service Immersion Program
This program will send Fordham Prep students to Eastern Tennessee in the summer of 2015 to partner with Habitat for Humanity in building two houses for low-income families. The grant from the Barat Foundation will finance windows for one house.

Laina Saba Primary School
The Laina Saba School serves children living below poverty level in the Kibera slums of Nairobi, Kenya, by providing students with nutritious meals as well as education. This year’s grant will provide the school with fire safety equipment. Sr. Irene Cullen, RSCJ, has been instrumental in establishing and maintaining this school.

Heartsong, Inc.
Heartsong, Inc., provides clinically-based music and art therapy programs for children diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, developmental delays, and other disabilities. The Art and Music Therapy for Special Needs Children is a program that corresponds to the Barat Foundation mission of helping children.

Reverse the Course
Reverse the Course enables girls in underdeveloped countries to attend school by supplying them with tuition, boarding, uniforms, and textbooks. Upper School student Mary Grace Henry started Reverse the Course, which now funds students in Uganda, Kenya, Paraguay, and Haiti.

Currey Ingram Academy
Currey Ingram engages in “Currey to Kenya,” a student-driven global outreach endeavor to ensure the sustainability of a community in Kenya. Working with Free The Children’s Adopt A Village, the program ensures clean water systems, education, healthcare, food security and alternate sources of income.

RE Children’s Project
The RE Children’s Project was founded in 2010 to fund research into a rare and devastating epilepsy syndrome that impacts children. The organization funds research that benefits the families and children that are affected by this disease.

Helping Hands for the Homeless and Hungry
Organized by members of churches and synagogues in Rye and Harrison, Helping Hands distributes food, school supplies, cash grants, toiletries, and clothing to needy people.

Caroline House, Inc.
This preschool program provides a nurturing educational environment to children whose mothers attend Caroline House ESL and life skills classes. The program serves to teach school-readiness skills so that children enter kindergarten prepared with language, social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
