In honor of Janet Erskine Stuart, RSCJ, a pioneer in the education of young women, we have established the Stuart Scholarship.
As a young child, Janet Stuart set out on a search for truth and understanding. Committed to educational excellence throughout her life, she has inspired countless students and educators alike to pursue their dreams.
Her own words say it best: “Your life is a sacred journey. It is about change, growth, discovery, movement and transformation. It is continually expanding your vision of what is possible, stretching yourself, teaching you to see clearly and deeply, helping you to listen to your intuition.” It is in this spirit that we are pleased to offer the Stuart Scholarship.
Scholarships are limited and awarded to incoming and rising ninth-grade students.
The Stuart Scholarship is a merit scholarship of $10,000 awarded to qualified candidates during each of her four years of Upper School at Sacred Heart Greenwich. Applicants are considered based on their ISEE results, grades, recommendations, demonstrated leadership, and a written essay. Finalists are invited to interview with the Scholarship Committee.
While the Stuart Scholarship is a special opportunity for a few students, it does not change or replace the regular admissions and financial aid process. Families may apply for financial assistance in addition to these scholarships, although demonstrated need is not a required criterion for a Stuart Scholarship.
Students will be notified of Stuart Scholarships at the same time they receive notice of admission.
