Lyons-Young honored by the Carver Center for distinguished service

NY State Senator Shelley B. Mayer and The Carver Center, a community center in Port Chester, honored Sacred Heart Greenwich’s own Lisa Lyons-Young with a dedicated service award during their celebration of Black History Month. Lyons-Young works extensively with the Carver Center through her work leading the Summer Outreach program, the Tuesday HeadStart Enrichment Program and Saturday’s at Sacred Heart program. 
 
Founded in 1991, Summer Outreach hosts 260 students each summer from 28 schools in Fairfield and Westchester counties, grades 2-8. Most students attending quality to receive free lunch in their public schools. The students explore topics in STEM, the arts, and develop skills in swimming, soccer and basketball. Lyons-Young finds many academically eligible students for Summer Outreach through her connections with the Carver Center. The Tuesday and Saturday programs offer Carver Center students the opportunity for extended enrichment at Sacred Heart as community members share educational games, crafts, and facilities with the students. At Sacred Heart, Lyons-Young wears many hats. She serves as the Lower School After-School and Extended Day Programs lead, works in the Cohen Library and Media Center and runs the Summer Outreach program. Prior to joining the staff at Sacred Heart, Lyons-Young worked at The Carver Center. 
 
Senator Mayer and George Lattimer, Westchester County Executive, commended Lyons-Young for her exemplary service and leadership in the best interest of her community. Sacred Heart salutes Lyons-Young for her hard work for our community and our community-at-large!
