Brown ’20 wins Greenwich Arts Council award for creative achievement
Yesterday, the Greenwich Arts Council recognized Zada Brown ’20 and six other Greenwich area students with the 2019 Award for Creative Achievement in the Arts. The award is given annually to recognize outstanding accomplishments by high school students in the visual, performing, and related arts. The awards are meant to provide encouragement to students to continue their pursuit of excellence in their chosen artistic fields
Brown was recognized for her work in theatre, music, and photography. In her presentation at the awards ceremony, she shared some pieces from her photography portfolio and also performed "The Music of the Night" from The Phantom of the Opera.
Upper School drama teacher Michaela Gorman reflected on Brown’s commitment to the arts at Sacred Heart, saying, “Zada is always willing to take risks when developing her characters and pours her whole heart into her work on stage. Her incomparable work ethic in combination with the joy she takes in performing have made her a true leader in our theatre program. Zada is admired among both students and faculty for her enthusiasm, her dedication, and her fearlessness. Her inclusive leadership has truly shaped the performing arts department at Sacred Heart in deep and lasting ways.”
