Their mission states that all children living in areas contaminated with radiation from the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant accident are assisted in finding a quality of life and hope in the future. They do this by providing clean food, rest and sanctuary in radiation free environments, by offering medical evaluation and treatment as needed, and by recognizing and nurturing the spirit of those it seeks to assist.
Don Bosco Center (Port Chester, NY)
An after-school and weekend educational, recreational program for both boys and girls operating from September through June for young people ages 8-18. This center reaches out to young people of the immediate neighborhood and the entire Village of Port Chester. In Don Bosco's spirit they create: "a home that welcomes, a playground where friends can meet, a school that prepares for life, and a church that evangelizes by loving charity".
Daughters of Charity of the Most Precious Blood Pre-school (Bridgeport, CT)
Under the direction of Sister Theresa Tremblay, this preschool cares for children on scholarship or at very minimal fees so that their parents can hold jobs. The program operates on a full-day, full-year schedule and lunch and snacks are provided daily. Sister Theresa along with the volunteers encourages the children to grow in awareness of self and others through the love of God while experiencing the joy of learning in a caring atmosphere.
