Where young women become global leaders

Student Stories

Here are what some exchange students had to say:
“One of the great things about Sacred Heart Greenwich is the opportunity to study in other Sacred Heart schools all around the world. I loved going to school in a different environment with different girls and classes and experiencing life in Sydney. I have changed a lot because of the experience. I will never forget the memories made while in Australia. I talk to my host sister, Annie, at least once a week and it’s comforting to know that I have a sister across the world. I can’t wait for her to visit our school.”

“Because of this program I was able to experience a culture that I had previously known very little about. In the weeks leading up to my trip to Lima, I as nervous because of the language differences and all of the new food I would have to try, but these factors actually lead to some of my favorite memories. Ironically, my subpar Spanish was not a problem because every girl at El Colegio Sagrado Corazon Sophianum was always helping me to translate. I made many new friends, who I still keep in touch with, and will never forget my South American travels. I cannot wait to return.”

During the summer of 2015, I traveled on exchange to Sagrat Cor Sarria, a Sacred Heart school in Barcelona, Spain. I enjoyed experiencing a different Sacred Heart school and having the opportunity to learn and to communicate in Spanish.  There are similarities between the schools, and even though they are so far apart, it was very comforting to see those familiar things like Mater. Barcelona is an amazing city and I had a great time learning about a new culture and meeting new people. I am still in touch with the students from Barcelona, and I am so happy I went on exchange!

"I was able to choose a variety of places to visit, and decided on Melbourne, Australia. Going to Melbourne was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I hope someday I will be able to go back. I learned a lot about myself through travel and by experiencing a new culture.  My host family gave me such an amazing experience. I know that my host sister Katie and I will be friends for a long time.”
